BANGKOK, 7 June 2012 – The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) under the Commerce Ministry is determined to expand online trade to boost the country’s export, while targeting to transform thaitrade.com into the hub of online trading in the ASEAN region in 2015. Director-General of the International Trade Information Center Ampawan Pichalai chaired the opening of a seminar on thaitrade.com, Thailand’s official Business-to-Business (B2B) E-Marketplace, in order to encourage the full use of the online platform among Thai exporters. Meanwhile, the website allows overseas importers to receive news and information on Thai export products and gain easy access to the goods.

While working to meet the demands of buyers across the globe via modern technology, thaitrade.com will also contribute to boosting the country’s export situation. The DITP plans to turn thaitrade.com into the center of Thai electronics trade as well as the hub of online trade of the ASEAN region within 2015.

Currently, thaitrade.com has over 3,300 members. The website has been visited by over 557,000 viewers; among this number 12,000 are international buyers. Within 2012, the DITP aims to increase the number of sellers subscribed to this online platform to 7,000.
