Commerce Ministry gears up to expand trade network in EU

BANGKOK, 29 April 2013 The Ministry of Commerce is organizing “Thailand Festival 2013” in Italy to expand the country’s trade channel in Europe and promote the potential of Thai cuisine. 

Department of International Trade Promotion Director-General Srirat Rattapana Mrs. Srirat Rattapana has revealed that the department is accelerating an expansion of trading channel with the European Union (EU) via the Thai community in Italy.

The Department is holding a trade festival in Italy, expecting it to promote the import of Thai ingredients for authentic Thai food and development of skilled labors potential for the Thai entrepreneurs in Italy.

Entitled “The Thai Trade Festival 2013”, the event, which will be organized with the cooperation of the Thai Trade Promotion Office in Milan, local networks, and the Thai private sectors in Italy, is aimed at promoting various Thai products ranging from Thai cuisine, handicrafts, gifts, home decoration and furniture, jewelry, to tourism.

Thailand Festival 2013 is crucial for Thailand’s readiness to participate in the 2015 Universal Exposition (Expo 2015), which will be held in Milan, Italy; according to the Director-General.
