BANGKOK, 27 May 2012  – The Commerce Ministry has launched Thaitrade.com in China with the objective of boosting trade with Chinese entrepreneurs via an online platform.

Deputy Commerce Minister Poom Sarapol has revealed that he has recently led a group of executives and officials from the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) to launch Thaitrade.com at the Jewelry Shanghai 2012 fair in Shanghai, China. The move was an attempt of the Ministry to boost online trade with Chinese entrepreneurs given the internet is the most preferred channel for trade among Chinese entrepreneurs.

Mr. Poom stated that Thaitrade.com has been widely accepted by business entrepreneurs worldwide since its official launch in the middle of 2011. Statistics have indicated that Chinese entrepreneurs formed the largest group to have engaged in business negotiations with the website’s members. Thus, the DITP sees the website as a proper channel for Thai products to expand in China. Having attracted the attention of many Chinese entrepreneurs wishing to purchase Thai products through this online platform, Thaitrade.com is expected to generate higher income for Thai exports in China.

Thaitrade.com is an official business-to-business (B2B) E-Marketplace established by the DITP to enhance trade opportunity of Thai exporters under the idea of pooling Thai export products in one marketplace to serve as an efficient channel for international trade partners worldwide to find refined products from Thailand.
