BANGKOK, Sept 29 – The Commerce Ministry will provide cheap commodities for sale to help flood victims.

Deputy Commerce Minister Yanyong Puangrat said Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra had assigned all ministries to assist flood victims and help relieve their burdens in more than 10 provinces now under water.

Local Commerce Ministry offices and Internal Trade Department were assigned to closely monitor the public’s commodities situations to assure supplies are sufficient for public consumption during floods and to prevent merchants from raising goods prices.

After floodwater recedes, the Ministry is planning to organise blue flag caravans for low-priced commodities in flooded areas.

Mr Yanyong said should any irregularities of price adjustments be found due to flooding, the public can call hotline number 1569 to report.
