Department of Skill Development Director-General Kreetha Sopchoke said the department has been speeding up efforts to develop labor skills ahead of the formation of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).
The department has already trained 122,000 people this year and is set to train 190,560 individuals next year. The training will be broken down into different categories. 99,780 people will be receiving language training, while 25,780 restaurant operators will be trained in food related areas. 12,000 will receive training in automotive related areas, 28,000 in tourism and services, and 20,000 in various other areas.
The department is speeding up efforts to train people in a bid to increase their job opportunities ahead of the AEC.
