Deputy Commerce Minister presides over destruction of IP-violating merchandises worth 216 million baht

BANGKOK, 1 March 2013  Deputy Commerce Minister Natthawut Saikua has presided over the destruction of merchandises that violated intellectual property, worth 216 million baht. The destruction of the goods, carried out in Phuket province, was hosted by the Department of Intellectual Property, the Royal Thai Police, the Customs Department, the Special Investigation Department and local agencies in Phuket.

The 94,120 items destroyed include music CDs and movie DVDs, fake watches of various brands, clothes, travel cases, wallets, leather goods and shoes.

The items were seized by Region 8 and 9 police, and Customs Department officials.
