Digital TV auction underway

BANGKOK, 29 October 2013 As the much-anticipated digital TV auction day is nearing, companies have been busy signing up to reserve their rights to participate in the auction. So far, there have been 20 companies, which include 28 individual establishments that have handed in their bidding documents. 

The first day for submitting the bidding documents on October 28 saw Channel 7 being the first to do so. A total of 24 digital channels are currently up for the bidding.

All major media companies have so far submitted their bidding documents, for example, MCOT, GMM Grammy, RS, Post TV, Shin Corporation, Thairath, Channel 3, Workpoint, and Amarin Television.

October 29 is the second day for the submission of the bidding documents, after which, within 45 days, the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) will announce the names of those who have the right to participate in the digital TV auction.
