BANGKOK, 10 September 2014 –As the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) is looming, the Director General of the Department of Industrial Promotion (DIP) considers that implementing innovations for product development, as well as applying cultural capital by focusing on uniqueness, are central to preparing skilled entrepreneurs.

The Director-General Atchaka Siboonrueng has disclosed that the DiP is implementing several measures to assist both start-ups and existing entrepreneurs. The Department has provided training and guidance to at least 20,000 entrepreneurs a year to help them display their products in foreign countries.

She also added that the food valley project in the northern region was planned to promote the Thai kitchen to a global kitchen, since the north of Thailand is a suitable place in various respects including topography and climate, for such a venture. It concentrates on food safety and the production of organic products of global quality.
