BANGKOK, 2 June 2013 The Department of Internal Trade expects the egg prices to return to normal this week, while affirming that there is no need to hoard eggs at this time.

According to Director General of the Department of Internal Trade Vibunluck Ruamrak, the egg situation will improve next week as the weather has gotten cooler in many areas, thanks to the rainy season, which has led egg hens to produce more eggs. However, she said the egg situation has to be closely monitored, while assuring that Thailand is not low on egg supply.

She has also said there is no need for Thais to hoard eggs as hoarding will exacerbate the current situation and cause egg supply in the market to run short.

The director also said the department would go ahead with its blue flag fair, where eggs and household necessities are offered at lower prices, in order to help lower the cost of living for people across the country.
