BANGKOK, 27 July 2012 – The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) will be hosting the “Made in Thailand” Fair 2012 in honor of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit and to promote Thai SME businesses in the ASEAN region.
DITP Director-General Nuntawan Sakuntanaga has mentioned that the Ministry of Commerce has adjusted the format of this year’s “Made in Thailand” fair by turning it into an exhibition and trading forum in order to provide a stage for Thai exporters to negotiate directly with buyers and importers. The fair will help reduce impacts from the Euro-zone debt crisis on Thai SMEs as well as preparing them for the ASEAN Economic Community to come in 2015.
The “Made in Thailand” fair will be held as an international exhibition. The exhibits will be divided into 7 groups such as furniture, electrical and electronic appliances, spa business, and food and beverages.
Over 800 SMEs and 200 foreign buyers have already confirmed their participation, and more than 100,000 people are expected to visit the fair. Ms. Nuntawan expects the event to generate as much as 1.2 billion baht, an increase of 5% from last year.
The “Made in Thailand” fair will be held during August 15-19 at Impact Muangthong Thani, starting from 10am to 9pm.
