BANGKOK, 15 August 2013 The Expressway Authority of Thailand (EXAT) is planning to help commuters shoulder the rising cost of expressway fee by giving them 15 baht extra for every 500 baht refill.

According to the EXAT, the fee is expected to be raised beginning on September 1st for users of the Srirat and Burapavithi expressways. Under the EXAT’s relief plan, commuters with easy passes will get 15 baht extra for every 500 baht top-up.

The move is also said to entice drivers to take the expressways, which would in turn help relieve traffic congestion in Bangkok. The offer will be in effect from September to December this year.
