EC to plan budget spending for fiscal 2015

BANGKOK, 1 September 2014  – The Election Commission has been working on its operations for the next fiscal year, including the draft of an election law that is called for by the provisional charter. 

EC secretary-general Puchong Nutrawong said that executives of the EC have been discussing the operational plan for the fiscal year of 2015, which starts on October 1, after being allocated with a budget of 1.79 billion by the government.

Mr. Puchong said that the discussion of next year’s operations is aimed to make sure that all plans will be executed in a way that is in line with the allocated budget.

He added that the EC is determined to work in accordance with the roadmap of the National Council for Peace and Order following the adoption of an interim Constitution which entails the dissemination of information on the general election, public referendum, at local elections.

Mr. Puchong went on to say that the EC is currently working on the drafting of laws that are related to the operations of the commission, including the election law that will go along with various reform plans of the NCPO.
