BANGKOK, 8 August 2012 – The country’s energy committee has decided to collect less contribution from local gasohol and diesel sales to help shoulder the burden carried by consumers and businesses.
Energy Minister Arak Chonlatanon said on Tuesday that the National Energy Policy Committee meeting has agreed to lower gasohol sales contribution to the State Oil Fund by 0.50 baht per liter.
At the same time, the Fund will subsidize 0.50 baht to each liter of gasohol E30 and E85 in order to promote the use of alternative fuel in the country.
Mr. Arak added that the Committee decided to lower diesel sales contribution to the Oil Fund by 0.30 baht a liter in order to help ease the burden of the public and the private sector, brought on by higher inflation.
He stated that the adjustment of the Oil Fund collection will cost it 14 million baht per day in lost contribution.
