BANGKOK, 16 October 2013 – The Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Commerce will cooperate in developing strategies to promote the production of ethanol from cassava. One of the objectives of their cooperation is to prevent cassava price drop
Energy Minister Pongsak Raktapongpaisarn said the Cabinet had tasked him with overseeing the country’s comprehensive production of cassava as food and energy crop. The minister’s job covers management of the cassava price structure.
Mr Pongsak said the PM had also asked him to be in charge of bio-plastic policy and Thailand’s first bio-plastic plant.
The Minister encouraged cassava farmers to participate in the government’s contract farming program, which guaranteed good prices and constant supply for factories.
