BANGKOK, 5 August 2012  – Mr. Suthep Liumsirijarern, Director-General of the Energy Policy and Planning Office (EPPO), Ministry of Energy, revealed that his office is accepting applications seeking financial support to biogas production that is based on wastewater or industrial waste. The move is in line with the government’s policy to promote use of biogas technology in industrial factories.

The applications are being accepted in August, the second time this year after EPPO once called for similar applications during March to July. EPPO has set a goal to sponsor 114 proposals this year, producing a total of 190 million cubic meters of biogas per year, with a supporting budget of over THB1.06 billion.

Interested parties must be engaged in the energy industry, and have invested in the design of a biogas production plant based on wastewater, waste, or energy-rich agricultural by-products. The project hopes to see 338 participants throughout the 5-year project.
