BANGKOK, 2nd October 2013 The Excise Department is considering providing a complete online excise tax payment system, believing that 100% of entrepreneurs will soon switch to the online tax payment method.
Mr.Chumpol Rimsakorn of the Excise Department yesterday met with Mr. Peter Foo Moo Tan, President & Chief Executive Officer of United Overseas Bank, Thailand. During the meeting, the two signed an agreement on providing an online network for excise tax payment to facilitate the paying of excise taxes by companies as well as to increase the Department’s management system’s effectiveness and stability.
According to Mr.Chumpol, an online system, which covers every step of the tax paying procedure, will likely attract 100% of large businesses, 70 of which have already been paying their taxes online; especially automobile companies. The Department has collected in excess of 432 billion baht in excise tax as of the end of September, which is 5% higher than the target; it aims to collect to the tune of 466 billion baht in tax in 2014, Mr. Chumpol further revealed.
