BANGKOK, 10 May 2011 – The excise tax collection in April 2011 stood at 39.50 billion baht, an increase of 4.72 billion baht or 13.58% compared with that collected during the same period last year.
Excise Department Director-General Pongpanu Svetarundra reported that the aforementioned amount was 6.6 billion baht or 20% higher than the estimate.
The five highest amounts of excise tax collected were from oil and petroleum products at 13.24 billion baht, automobiles at 9.11 billion baht, tobacco at 6.18 billion baht, beer at 4.99 billion baht and liquor at 4.10 billion baht.
The total excise tax collection for the first seven months of the 2011 fiscal year (from October 2010 to April 2011) amounted to 267.70 billion baht, rising by 25.60 billion baht or 10.57% year-on-year. The amount also exceeded the initial projection by 37.20 billion baht or 16.14%.
