Export of Thai fruits to England targetted at 10% increase

BANGKOK, 26 April 2011 -The Department of Export Promotion is planning to increase export of Thai fruits to England by 10%, reaping more than 826 million US dollars.

Commerce Minister Pornthiva Nakasai said the Department of Export Promotion had collaborated with Tesco supermarket in England to promote fruit imports from Thailand in the exhibition called ‘Healthy and Tasty from Thailand’.

According to the report, fruits with increasing popularity such as Nam Dokmai mangoes , lychees and dragon fruits will be the main focus of the exhibition. Over 90 tons worth of Thai fruits, accounting for 48 million THB, will be distributed to 500 Tesco branches across the United Kingdom.
