BANGKOK, 28 June 2011 – The Department of Export Promotion (DEP) has encouraged Thai entrepreneurs to adjust themselves to cyber trade in order to increase their connections with online communities via facebook and amazon.

According to DEP Director-General Nuntawan Sakuntanaga, today’s trend in trade and business competition relies on new technologies enabling trade transactions to be made via social media.

The DEP thus has a policy to promote electronic marketing channels for exporters via www.thaitrade.com, which will be a very good opportunity for small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

SMEs who are adept at new business strategies and adaptations should take advantage of the new marketing modes and channels to boost their trade efficiency. Besides, the growth of social media such as twitter and facebook remains prospective amid the stagnant economic situation.

Ms Nuntawan said that online sales remained high in the past year and are expected to experience a double-digit growth this year.
