BANGKOK, March 11 – The Commerce Ministry officially registered 5,736 companies last month with a combined capital of Bt35.765 billion, a minister said today.
Deputy Minister Nattawut Saikua said the number of registered companies was 29 per cent lower than in January, with three leading registered business sectors being construction, real estate and recreation service.
He added that the number of newly-registered companies last month was nine times higher than that of shut-down firms, reflecting entrepreneurs’ confidence in the country’s economy and the government’s investment policy.
Mr Nattawut insisted that the nationwide minimum wage increase to Bt300/day since January 1 has not negatively affected the private sector.
Thailand has a total of 538,954 registered companies, with a combined registered capital of Bt10.72 trillion.
