BANGKOK, 2 May 2015 – The Federation of Thai Industries has indicated that the auto industry is in need of more than 200,000 workers to expedite the production of three million vehicles per year.
FTI Vice President and Spokesperson of the Auto Industry Club Surapong Pisitpattanapong has revealed that the auto parts industry in particular is severely in need of personnel from production engineers to assembly line workers.
Mr.Surapong said that in order for the nation’s auto industry to achieve the production of 3 million cars a year by 2017, it needs to recruit an addition of 200,000 workers.
He stated that the FTI has initially signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Education and Labor ministries on organizing skill labor training in order to produce manpower that responds to the market demand.
Mr.Surapong said that the shortage of labor may cause investors to turn their investments to neighboring nations which have more human resources available in cheaper wages.
