BANGKOK, 19 April 2012 – The Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) said that nearly 200,000 cars were produced in March, breaking a new record, while the sales number also made a new high.
According to Surapong Paisitpatnapong, spokesman of the Automotive Industry Club of the FTI, 190,935 car units were produced in March alone, a 13.5% increase from February’s figure. He said the overall vehicle production in the first quarter was almost 500,000 units, 6.5%. higher than the same period’s last year.
The spokesman is positive the number of car production this year will reach 2 million as targeted earlier.
Meanwhile, 111,000 car units were sold in March, an increase of 21% from previous month’s and a record-breaking number as well.
