The EU Commission recently met with Gen Prawit to discuss the progress of the Thai government’s crackdown on illegal fishing. The EU earlier this year decided to maintain the yellow card for the country’s fishing industry and give it another six months to eradicate IUU fishing and related problems.

According to Gen Prawit, the ongoing efforts are making headway, with priority given to the problems of illegal and underage labor, and illegal fishing equipment. The deputy premier says the EU Commission admires the country for its all-out endeavor which is beginning to yield tangible results.
