BANGKOK, 6 Sep 2013 The Energy Regulatory Commission has issued a regulation covering trading of electricity from Solar PV Rooftop.

According to the commission, the Government would buy 200 megawatts of electricity generated from solar energy. It said that 100 megawatts would be bought from household solar stations, the rest from SMEs and other commercial buildings.

Solar power stations with capacity of generating no more than 10 kilowatts are classified as household power stations, and those with more than 10 kilowatts up to 1 megawatts are commercial power stations.

The Commission stated that those eligible to install the Solar PV Rooftop and signing power generating contracts with the authority must be the owner of that building or those who have the permission from the building owner. The building must have never been installed a rooftop photovoltaic power station before.

Those interested in the power trading can submit the application through the Metropolitan Electricity Authority, and the Provincial Electricity Authority from September 23 to October 11, 2013.

List of qualified power traders will be announced on October 14.
