BANGKOK, 9 May 2013 The Department of Internal Trade (DIT) has guaranteed that a gradual price raise of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) will have no impact on production costs.

DIT Deputy Director-General Santichai Santawanpat has reassured that a gradual increase in the price of LPG for household use by 50-Satang per kilogram will not affect costs of production for all types of products. Therefore, the issue should not be used as an excuse to hike the product prices by the operators.

The Energy ministry is currently seeking measures to ease the public’s financial burden while it is still unclear whether or not the price hike plan will be implemented as previously announced, added Mr. Santichai.
