SONGKHLA, Sept 30 – Over 15,000 hotel rooms in Hat Yai are almost fully booked during the October 4-13 vegetarian festival.
Hat Yai-Songkhla Hotel Association president Somchart Pimthanapoonporn said reservations are continuing to be made by Malaysian and Singaporean tourists.
At least Bt100 million is expected to circulate during the vegetarian festival, similar last year’s performance, he said.
Meanwhile, both public and private sectors are promoting eating vegetarian and abstaining from drinking alcohol to celebrate the festival.
Over 100 vegetarian shops will participate in the event and located at Hat Yai’s local park. Vegetarian shops from other ASEAN countries will also attend.
Other activities include vegetarian cooking demonstrations and dragon and lion dance shows.
