Interior Minister Gen Anupong Paochinda has confirmed the district development project has been carefully examined and there has been no sign of corruption so far.

The Interior Ministry ordered a probe into the management of the project in response to doubts raised by villagers. Gen Anupong disclosed that the scrutiny, undertaken by the Office of Auditor General and the National Anti-Corruption Commission, found nothing suspicious in the management of the project.

The program is aimed at enhancing the well-being of villagers by offering a five million baht seed fund to each district. Gen Anupong confirmed that chief district officers mentioned in the complaints were transferred out of the areas under their responsibility pending an investigation.

The minister added that several provinces were expediting budget distribution to facilitate development plans.
