Kalasin Province promotes organic agriculture for ASEAN era

KALASIN, 13 June 2014 – Kalasin Provincial Agricultural Extension Office is promoting organic agriculture in order to boost competitiveness within ASEAN countries. It is expected that 50 groups of agriculturist will join the project.

The Kalasin Vice Governor has given rice seeds to agriculturists who have joined the project to bring rice production competitiveness to match organic standards.

The Vice Governor also said that Kalasin Province is 74 percent devoted to rice fields, and its agricultural products average 761,730 ton a year. However agriculturists are faced with a deficit in rice prices every year. The province has now prepared the readiness of agriculturists to upgrade their competitiveness in the ASEAN market.
