BANGKOK, Aug 5  – The Airports of Thailand (AoT) plans to launch its so-called “Lady Parking” at six airports next week on August 12, Thailand’s Mother’s Day.

AOT president Makin Petplai said that at Suvarnabhumi Airport, the Lady Parking zone is offered at the whole third floor of the parking building 2.

The designated area can accommodate 450 cars.  Women security guards will be on duty for the safety of the facilities users.

As there are about 100,000 airport service users, only women travelling alone or with children aged under 12 year olds are allowed to use the lady parking area.

The soft launch is due on Wednesday, while the official opening of the service next Tuesday, Aug 12.

Mae Fah Luang-Chiang Rai Airport and Phuket International Airport have so far completed arrangement of the Lady Parking areas while the work at Hat Yai airport and Chiang Mai airport is underway.

Don Mueang Airport, one of Bangkok’s two major airports, is upgrading the third floor of its seven-floor parking building to be lady parking areas to accommodate 200 cars.
