Lower Northern transportation systems to have major improvements

BANGKOK, 9 June 2013 The Ministry of Transport is urgently developing transportation and logistics systems in lower Northern provinces, connecting them with the nationwide transportation network under the two trillion baht infrastructure project. 

According toTransport Minister Chatchart Sitthiphan, the ministry has set plans to improve three inter-provincial roads in the region by expanding them into four traffic lanes. The roads included Road number 115 in Kamphaeng Phet, number 117 in Phichit, and number 101 in Khamphaeng Phet-Sukhothai. Roads number 11 in Sak Lek district in Phichit and number 32 in In Buri in Sing Buri would be connected with the Bangkok-Nakhon Sawan motorway.

The ministry would also improve other major and minor roads in preparation for electric train routes. 5,800 kilometers of road will be paved within the next 3-4 years. All provinces must develop their potentials in order to attract investment and tourists after they have better transportation systems, Mr. Chatchart said.
