Mar exports up 30.9% y-o-y

BANGKOK, 20 April 2011 – Thai exports in March 2011 are concluded at 21.2 billion US dollars worth, an increase of 30.9% compared with the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Commerce. 

Commerce Minister Pornthiva Nakasai announced that exports in March 2011 were worth toally 21.259 billion US dollars, up 30.9% year-on-year while imports stood at 19.472 billion US dollars. Thailand hence enjoyed a trade surplus of 1.789 billion US dollars.

The total export value in the first quarter of this year was 56.8 billion US dollars, an increase of 28.26% while the import value in the same period was 54.1 billion US dollars. Thailand hence enjoyed a trade surplus of 2.6 billion US dollars in the first quarter.

The Ministry of Commerce has readjusted the country’s export target this year to 12% worth 219 billion US dollars or 7 trillion baht, up 10% from the earlier projection of 200 billion US dollars.
