BANGKOK, 13th May 2013 The Ministry of Commerce has organized a “Franchise Day” in order to work more closely with Thai franchise businesses to raise the standards of Thai entrepreneurs in preparation for the coming of the ASEAN Community.
Presiding over the opening ceremony of the “Franchise day,” Deputy Minister of Commerce Natthawut Sai-kuea said he had assigned the department of Business Development to come up with measures to improve and strengthen the country’s franchise business sectors. He recommended that entrepreneurs group and form alliances in order to expand new markets and business opportunities, with Asean being the the main target when the AEC is finally formed in 2015.
Thailand currently has approximately 452 franchise businesses registered, with the combined market value of 750 billion baht; it is expected to grow further at the rate of 15-20% per year.
The Department of Business development presented certificates to entrepreneurs who attended the Franchise developing workshops, which were held at the Ministry of Commerce as an arena where attendees could exchange ideas and information in order to build confidence in investing in the AEC expanding markets.
