SA KAEO, 1 May 2015 – The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport (MOT) has observed the connectivity development projects along the southern economic corridor in Aranyaprathet district to facilitate the Special Economic Zones and the ASEAN Community.
The MOT Permeant Secretary Soithip Trisuddhi paid the Aranyaprathet district in Sa Kaeo province a visit to observe the connectivity development projects in the area.
On this occasion, the MOT Permeant Secretary attended a lecture that informed the latest trading situation between Thailand and Cambodia from the Sa Keao Chamber of Commerce, and observed the connectivity development projects for the Special Economic Zones and border trade overseen by the Department of Highways and the Department of Rural Roads.
Meanwhile, the Department of Land Transport has concluded its calculations for the demand for passenger bus and cargo truck services running between Thailand and Cambodia, in order to accommodate the increasing amount of passengers and cargo.
The MOT Permanent Secretary then observed the construction site of the Ban Pa Rai – O’Neang border post. This site will connect the Special Economic Zones to the border trade. The construction project is now under consideration to be upgraded into a new permanent border crossing facility.
The Permeant Secretary has also observed the progress of the railroad construction and rehabilitation project between Kaeng Khoi and Aranyaprathet station which connects to Cambodia, and the construction of the Khlong Luek – Poi Pet railroad bridge that will connect neighbouring countries from the east to the west, along the southern economic corridor.
