BANGKOK, 10 June 2015 – The Ministry of Transport has planned to invest 70 million baht in the overhaul of the aviation industry, to boost national transport capacity.
According to Permanent Secretary of Transport Soithip Trisuddhi, a special committee has been appointed to formulate a national plan for air transport development. The Office of Transport and Traffic Policy Planning is tasked with studying the plan during the ten-year timeframe from 2017 – 2027.
The plan will be studied over a one-year period by the Office of Transport and Traffic Policy. It consists of strategies covering five aspects of civil aviation, namely airport development, related businesses, air traffic, air transport laws, and personnel development.
Director-General of the Office of Transport and Traffic Policy Peraphon Thawornsupacharoen said the one-year study requires a budget of 70 million baht. The scheme is expected to boost the potential of Thailand’s air transport and enable the aviation industry in all parts of the country to develop in coordination.
