BANGKOK, 24 February 2012  – The Department of Industrial Promotion has prepared a 20 million baht budget to transform 1,000 factories in Navanakorn into model factories for flood prevention.

After visiting the Navanakorn Industrial Estate, Industrial Promotion Department Director-General Pasu Loharnchun said that vocational students have been assisting small and medium entrepreneurs in the estate to recover from the flood. He added that around 95 percent of the businesses in Ayutthaya and Pathum Thani have resumed operations.

The department is planning to ask for cooperation from a construction institute under the Industry Ministry to help provide knowledge to entrepreneurs of more than 1,000 factories which are intended as model factories in flood prevention.

Mr Pasu added the rehabilitation is divided into two parts: production and business. In this connection, the department will help find purchase orders to substitute the missing ones during the flood as well as promote linkage of market networks among SMEs to reduce preliminary obstacles.
