NAKHON PHANOM, 18 June 2014 – The northeastern province of Nakhon Phanom has officially finished disbursing payment to the remaining unpaid farmers enrolled in the rice-pledging scheme.
The Bank of Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) in Nakhon Phanom province has paid the last batch of rice pledging money at 391 million baht to around 3,700 farmers on Wednesday.
The Military District Deputy Commanding Officer of Nakhon Phanom Col. Art Singhasatit said the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) had ordered the disbursement of a 92 billion baht budget to around 800,000 unpaid farmers nationwide as a part of NCPO’s policy to bring back happiness to Thais.
In Nakhon Phanom, around 27,400 farmers had joined the rice-pledging program and sold around at least 113,700 rice paddies that amounted up to 2.2 billion baht.
