BANGKOK, 9 April 2013 The 41st National Book Fair and the 11th Bangkok International Book Fair 2013 simultaneously held at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center saw 1.7 million visitors, while over 600 million baht was spent during the 1-and-a-half-week fair.
The Publishers and Booksellers Association of Thailand disclosed that around 1.7 million people visited the 41st National Book Fair and the 11th Bangkok International Book Fair, just concluded yesterday. More than 420 publishing companies, both local and international, participated in the event. Most visitors were between 15-30 years of age, and 10 percent of all visitors were new comers.
The total sales during the 11-day event reached 600 million baht, or 200 million baht higher than last year’s figure, while the average spending per head was at 300 baht.
The most popular types of books purchased in the event were cartoons, novels, and dhamma-based books aimed at spiritual improvement.
