BANGKOK, 30 January 2015 – The Office of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) requests all mobile carriers to offer the per-second call rate service by from 16 February 2015. Interested customers are allowed to change their promotions free of charge.
The NBTC Secretary-General Takorn Tantasith said that all mobile carriers in Thailand must provide per-second call rates in their services starting 16 February. The deadline for all mobile carriers to change their services is 1 March 2015.
He has said that the carriers are allowed to set the minimum charge for each call at 30 seconds, while the charge of the call will be calculated per second from the 31st second to compensate the connection cost. The price rate must not exceed the NBTC’s regulated price.
The new service plan will not affect the existing users. Users can change to the new service plan free of charge. However, the existing users on service plan contracts with minimum usage date or device-based contracts will not be able to change their existing promotions to the new per-second rate until the existing contract expires, said the NBTC Secretary-General.
The NBTC’s directive will not affect customers who do not wish to change their existing services.
