BANGKOK, 1 September 2014 – The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commision (NBTC) has set up a committee to oversee the body’s operations, which will also act as a one-stop service center.
NBTC secretary-general Takorn Tantasit made known that he will chair the committee, which will comprise of members from the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), the Consumer Protection Board (CPB) and other relevant agencies.
Mr. Takorn noted that the setting up of the committee will help streamline NBTC’s operations, which have so far required cooperation from other related agencies. The committee will act as a one-stop service looking after the NBTC’s three main responsibilities.
The committee, which will be in effect for one year, will be tasked with supervising and following up on NBTC projects, coordinating with other agencies in launching legal action against those who violated telecommunications and broadcasting laws, and exchanging information with industry experts in a bid to better manage public projects.
