BANGKOK, 27 May 2014 – The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO)’s head of Economic Affairs Air Chief Marshal Prajin Jantong reaffirmed that the NCPO would be able to draft the 2015 budget in time of the new fiscal year which begins on October 1st, 2014. He indicated he would urgently collect necessary information from the economic sector for the drawing up of an economic roadmap to be proposed to the NCPO for implementation.
ACM Prajin, who is also a Deputy Leader of the NCPO, urged all economic related agencies to regain confidence in the nation’s investments and tourism during yesterday’s meeting with high ranking officials of the Commerce Ministry, state enterprises, and commercial banks. He estimated that the roadmap would be ready to be proposed to the NCPO next week.
He projected that nation’s economic growth would be around 2.2%, an increase of 0.2% from the previous projection, given a positive sentiment from the resumption of the payment under the rice pledging scheme and a decline in political tension. The NCPO Deputy Leader urged the Ministry of Finance to swiftly help address a shortage of revolving funds among SME businesses, and to support the continuation of infrastructure and flood prevention projects.
ACM Prajin said he would do his best to make sure the projects established under the NCPO’s power would be completed within its administration and would not affect the nation’s financial stability.
