BANGKOK, Aug 19 — Thailand’s Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC) under the Ministry of Education will clarify its spending plans for next year’s 300-billion-baht budget to the Thai National Legislative Assembly next Wednesday.
OBEC Secretary-General Kamol Rodklai told journalists on Tuesday that the commission will explain its budget allocation to the National Legislative Assembly next week, August 27, 2014 after the agency was allocated the budget of 315,257 million baht, increased by 2.62 per cent from this year’s budget.
According to OBEC, 76 per cent of next year’s budget will be spent on expanding access to education and developing the quality of education across the country with an emphasis in compulsory education for the nearly 8 million students for which OBEC is responsible.
Another spending plan includes improvements for 1,305 schools in the Southern region.
Mr Kamol added that OBEC will track budget spending plans as it is the largest sum requested among all Thai government agencies for the upcoming fiscal year.
