Pattaya tourism leaders meet on MICE strategy

Area tourism officials met to begin planning how they will take advantage of the government’s push to develop Pattaya’s meetings and convention sector.

Tourism promotion chief Onwara Korapin chaired the March 27 meeting with tourism, hotel and business leaders.

Representative from the Thailand Convention Exhibition Bureau explained that the government wants to set up Pattaya, Chiang Mai, Phuket and Khon Kaen as model cities for meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions.

At the meeting, the local officials discussed how Pattaya will work with the TCEB to make that happen.

TCEB officials said they’ve already created a strategy and currently are analyzing gaps between what’s available and what’s needed. Pattaya and other cities have been asked to identify obstacles to MICE development.
