BANGKOK, 22 February 2013 The Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) has expressed its readiness to deal with an expected shortage of power in April, when Myanmar will halt its gas supply to Thailand.
PEA Governor Namchai Lorwattanatrakul said on Thursday that the Provincial Electricity Authority has already been discussing with various industrial plants to carefully plan their power use while campaigning for power savings among members of the public during April 8-17.
During the aforementioned period, Myanmar has announced a halt in gas supply delivery to Thailand for pipeline maintenance.
Mr. Namchai added that PEA has also planned to bring out mobile diesel generators to help produce additional power, when needed.
The PEA Governor said that more back-up plans have been prepared although he does not expect the situation to be severe.
In any case, Mr. Namchai urged the public to keep monitoring news while inviting those with queries to contact 1129 PEA Call Center, which is available around the clock.
