PM backs Unilever on green businesses

BANGKOK, 18 June 2013 Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra pledges to give her full support to Unilever’s projects to promote green businesses and uplift the quality of life of the people. 

The statement came as Mr. Bauke Rouwers, Chairman of Unilever, paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister at the Government House, where they discussed Unilever’s Sustainable Living Plan, aimed at doubling the business value and reducing environmental impact at the same time.

Mr Rouwers disclosed Unilever’s plan to improve the quality of life of over one billion people and find 100% sustainable source of raw materials by 2020.

Both also talked about their cooperation to educate Thais on domestic waste sorting which is being launched in Phitsanulok on a pilot basis.

Meanwhile, the Thai Prime Minister reiterated the government’s policy to promote foreign investment, which includes the 2-trillion-baht infrastructure project and the reduction of corporate income tax from 30 percent to only 23 percent. The prime minister also expressed her admiration as well as a government support to Unilever’s sustainable living plan.
