SAMUTPRAKAN, 6 Jan 2014, Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has presided over the opening ceremony of OTOP shops in Suvarnabhumi International Airport.
The shop is a joint cooperation between the government and private sector with the aims of generating more jobs and providing top quality original Thai brands to foreign visitors.
According to the records, sales of OTOP products topped 86 billion baht last year, with an export value of at least 1 billion baht. The goal for this year is to further the sales and installing more vendors in airports nationwide.
Attending the event were Deputy Commerce Minister Niwatthamrong Boonsongpaisan, Deputy Transport Minister General Prun Suwannathat, and Suvarnabhumi Airport General Manager Mrs. Rawewan Netrakavesna.
The Premier was given a rapturous welcome by officials as well as passengers, many of whom had their pictures taken with the Prime Minister. The Premier also visited the airport’s immigration department, inspecting personnel stationed there.
