NANNING, 3 September 2013 (NNT) – Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra addressed delegates at the China-ASEAN Expo 2013, saying that Thailand will continue to improve bilateral relations with China and to boost China-ASEAN ties.

During the opening ceremony of the 10th China-ASEAN Expo, which is being held from Tuesday to Friday in the Chinese city of Nanning, Prime Minister Yingluck said the event is a sign of strengthening relations between China and the ASEAN bloc.

She noted that as the expo in the previous year generated financial transactions worth over 2 billion dollars, the value this year is expected to be even higher. Thailand is hoping to expand mutually-beneficial cooperation with the East Asian giant and to welcome more Chinese enterprises to invest in the kingdom.

Ms Yingluck stressed that Thailand is an ideal hub for foreign investment in the Southeast Asian region, thanks to its plans to upgrade transport systems, particularly the high-speed rail project linking the country with its neighbors, which include Laos, China, Malaysia and Singapore.
