Police get into Pattaya hotel business

The Royal Thai Police have entered the hotel business.

National Police Chief Pol. Gen. Chaktip Chaijinda hosted the May 17 opening ceremony of the Cop Seminar & Resort the Rong Poh area of Banglamung District. The 106-rai hotel used to be a police rehabilitation center until the national police force spent just under 300 million baht to turn it into a resort open to the public.

Chaktip marked the opening with a merit-making ceremony that saw police offering food to nine monks from Photisampan Temple.

The publicly-funded business has 80 hotel rooms, a swimming pool and seminar center able to seat more than 300. The property already is being expanded with 34 villa-style accommodations under construction, with completion slated for next year.

The police chief said the RTP is considering building another resort in Phetchabun.
