BANGKOK, Feb 26 – The Thai stock market will not affected by the possible power outage in April, Stock Exchange of Thailand President Charamporn Jotikasthira said today.
The stock market and securities companies have back-up power systems to handle a possible brownout during suspended gas supplies from Myanmar during April 5-14, he said.
The international standard backup system can provide power for one week, he added.
The SET and securities companies have tested the backup recovery systems, so investors can be assured that there will be no impact on trading.
Meanwhile, Bank of Thailand Governor Prasarn Trairatvorakul said the central bank is ready with two backup systems, covering all areas, so there will no problem.
