BANGKOK, 11 June 2014  – The Ministry of Public Health has dispatched a medical mobile unit from Rayong Hospital to assist the locals living in proximity to the IRCP refinery, which caught fire early this week.

According to Public Health Permanent Secretyary, Dr. Narong Sahametapat, there are approximately 50,000 people living in 3 main districts, who might be affected by the strong chemical odor permeating the air near the industrial estates. The medical mobile unit has been dispatched to the 3 districts: Choengnoen, Tapong and Ban Laeng to ensure the health of the locals as well as to provide free medical check-up services.

Dr. Narong added that those who experience eye or skin irritation should rinsed it off with clean water before proceeding to the nearest medical center.
