BANGKOK, 22 May 2013 – The Energy Policy and Planning Office (EPPO) has resolved to postpone the raising of LPG gas prices without a deadline, as it awaits a tally of low-income earners who would be affected by the raise.
The meeting of the EPPO, chaired by Energy Minister Pongsak Raktapongpaisal, yesterday decided to postpone the raising of LPG gas price for the household sector indefinitely, explaining that it first needed to hear the result of the study on how the price rise would affect low-income earners. The study results will be deliberated at the next EPPO meeting.
The EPPO meeting also resolved to reduce the amount of contribution towards the Oil Fund, from diesel sales. Each liter of diesel sold would contribute 3 baht per liter towards the fund, a reduction of 0.60 baht. The Oil Fund’s income will decline to 180.85 million baht per day, from 214.77 baht per day previously.
